Hojicha

Hojicha is a Japanese green tea derived from traditional Bancha, but roasted with heat, which gives it a unique and warm flavor. It is then ground to obtain a fine powder. Its amber liquor reveals sweet aromas of caramel, toasted bread, and hazelnut, with a slight smoky note.

It can be enjoyed perfectly throughout the day, as a cold or hot drink with milk or plant-based milk. Low in theine.

Traditional preparation:

  • Take a dose of hojicha with a Chashaku (bamboo scoop) or a spoon and put it in a matcha bowl.
  • Add a small amount of hot water (70–80 °C). We recommend 3g of hojicha for 60ml of water.
  • Whisk vigorously with the Chasen (bamboo whisk) in an N-shaped motion without the whisk bristles touching the bottom of the bowl, until a fine and homogeneous foam is obtained.
  • Enjoy it with or without milk.
